The World in The Hague: Portraits of Migration exhibition at the Historical Museum of the Hague uses multi-media imagery and artefacts to illustrate the historically rich, multi-cultural make-up of the Dutch city Den Haag.

The exhibition does a really nice job of drawing attention to the vast contributions made by new-comers not only to The Hague but to the Netherlands as a country at large. Themes that are paid particular attention to include festivals, architecture, film as well as the resistance against the German occupation in the 1940s. The exhibition also consolidates for viewers the contemporary diversity of the city, in all of its beauty at a time when multi-culturalism is being constructed as a threat within xenophobic discourses across the continent.
