We are so excited to announce our second conference Returning the Gaze: Stories of Resistance taking place later this year. Picking up from our first conference – 2014’s Returning the Gaze: Blackface in Europe – our second edition will continue to present a critical view on racialised imagery, while approaching from a broader angle and departing from only blackface related themes, namely with a focus on resistance to racism and racist imagery.
Following the conference, ERIF aims to curate an edited volume (either for a journal or book) based on the programmed presentations and workshops.
Part II will be hosted at the University of Innsbruck, Austria on the 4th and 5th November 2016. Our calls for contributions process is now closed and you can keep up to date with programme developments here. Don’t forget to reserve your place on time and/or find out more about our multi-tiered pricing system to get affordable tickets!
We can’t wait to see you in Austria this November. Lots of love,
Returning the Gaze II: Stories of Resistance is in collaboration with the University of Innsbruck and is sponsored by:
